The dreaded health slump. We’ve all been there. You’re cutting workouts short, eating your healthy hummus with a whole bag of chips (the good kind), and thanking heaven you never seem to go up a size in your fitness leggings.
One way I get myself out of these ruts is trying new things that inspire me to get back in the game. While nothing will be the sole answer to everlasting motivation, here are my honest thoughts about the things helping me right now. **Disclaimer- No one is endorsing me for this, but I wouldn’t mind if they did!
Aaptive: An awesome and inexpensive way to amp up your workouts. The app contains all sorts of guided routines for elliptical, treadmill, strength, spin, yoga, and meditation. There’s even programs if you want to train for a race. Just pop in your earbuds and you have popular music as well as a recorded trainer guiding your workout. I find the time goes by faster and I end up doing way more than I would do without it. For less than $100 for the year, it’s been an awesome investment to kick things up a notch.
10% Happier (Meditation App): A follow-up to the best selling book by the same name, this app has everything you need to understand meditation and guide you through. I love that you can choose your length of time (I don’t usually sit for very long!) and has plenty of variety of different instructors so you can find a voice you can stand. It offers a free trial and then is about $100 for the year. I’ve found it’s worth it.
Puracy: When things are clean, I’m so much more motivated and happy. It’s like a fresh start. Puracy makes natural body and home cleaning products that smell amazing (better than Method in my opinion) and have no junk in them. I like basically everything in the line, although I struggled a bit with the shampoo. It’s good, but some things are better left to Aveda! One tip, if you get the enzyme stain remover, it works great for spraying sweaty gear before throwing it in the laundry basket. No more trapped sweat. Hooray!
Fabletics: New workout gear always gives me a boost to get back to the gym and this was a great, affordable way to revamp my wardrobe. I like the leggings best because they are a lot less money than some other brands, fit well, and aren’t see-through. They also offer several cute styles in black, which is great because I’m not really comfortable with flowers on my bum. Although they have plenty of prints if you are! Only downside is to get the best price you need to sign up for VIP subscription, which requires and you to remember to purchase or skip each month, which feels like too much memory space for my fitness leggings. Luckily you can cancel at any time.
I hope some of these things help you get and stay motivated. If you like this article, please share it with friends and if you’d like more (or less) of these types of suggestions, leave me a comment below.
